Calling all generous quilters; If anyone out there knows of any person or organisation in the UK that is planning on sending comfort quilts to Japan please let me know. If there’s one thing I can donate it’s a couple of quilts. I will be talking it up at my weekly sewing sessions over the coming weeks. I don’t have time to run a program but I will be very happy to donate a quilt or two. That’s something there isn’t a shortage of in my house. I shall keep you posted on any progress I make but should any of you hear anything I would appreciate hearing from you.
Here’s one I made earlier. This quilt was cut with the GO! Fabric Cutter using two different shapes of triangles. I love the way I can see circles when there are only triangular shaped bits making up the quilt. It’s magic!
Has anyone stopped to consider the copyright laws lately? As I understand, it is illegal to copy an author’s material for distribution. I have read the small print in the front of the Popular Patchwork magazine a few minutes ago. This is what is says: “The Publisher’s written consent must be obtained before any part of this publication may be reproduced in any form whatsoever …….” And from the front of one on my newest quilting books “No part of this product may be reproduced in any form, unless otherwise stated, in which case reproduction is limited to the use of the purchaser.” I believe these blurbs to be standard issue on all books and magazines nowadays. I’m the kind of person who loves books. I’ll never have enough books. So when I see something in someone else’s book that I really like, I would prefer to purchase the book outright. That way the designer/author gets rewarded for the effort they put into the contents of the said book. This is just a little something to consider. Have a thought for all the designers that keep us interested in the crafts we work on. Without them our quilts would be very boring.
So for this evening, well to be honest I will have to collect my Sarah from her school, where she is attending a fashion show, in a bit and by the time I get back it will be past my bedtime. So I guess I will read a little and hopefully have a great sleep to ready myself for another busy day tomorrow. Whatever you may be doing this evening, I hope it’s a good one. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching.
