After feeling a bit under the weather for a few days this happy longarm quilter is almost back on form. Thank you to everyone to who inquired about how I was feeling. I have no doubt I will be hula hooping around before the week is up, maybe…….
It’s been a quiet day around here. No snow today but loads of rain and sleet. I can’t wait to see a little bit of sun. Now that my snow has all but melted here, in happy longarm quilter land, I just want winter to be over. My imaginary beach hut is looking better and better with each passing wintry day. Beach hut weather can’t arrive soon enough for me!
So while I was sitting quietly today I played with this.
I pieced the equilateral triangle table centre last week and set it aside. So today I layered the little quilt top, then did a little bit of walking foot work and added the binding using leftover scraps. I’m quite pleased with the finished result of this simple little piece. One less UFO to deal with next month…….
The postman brought this yesterday.
This lovely book called Quick Weekend Quilts by Debbie Mumm is packed with oodles of projects of all sizes suitable for every room of the house. I can’t wait to get started on these projects. This is the type of book I’ll never regret purchasing because of the versatile collection of patterns included in it.
I have no new samples to show you today as I just sat quietly and worked on my Lilly Pilly. It was the perfect day to do applique work. I hope to be in tiptop shape really soon. And then I can try some more of my scrappy ideas to Use up Your Scraps. There are only 8 days left in January and I hope to churn out one or two more scrappy projects. Perhaps I can use a pattern from my new book to use up some more of my scraps. The scrap bin levels are finally going down!
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be doing some more applique work. Whatever you may be doing this evening, I hope it’s something quiet and relaxing. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥

I’ve just discovered your blog and signed up to follow. What lovely work you do ^^ I’m a beginner patchworker (hand piecing at the moment) but will enjoy watching an expert longarmer at work ^^
Welcome to world of patchwork and quilting Claire. I had a peek at your blog and I love your dog windows. It looks like your right on track. Eventually you will find out just how addictive patchwork is. Thanks for popping in.
love the contrast of the black and white.
I’m glad you like the contrast. I prefer a more subtle contrast but it’s growing on me. Thanks for popping in.
My grandmother taught me the different stitches and knots to finish off a crazy quilt she finished making for my mother. It had pieces of satiny coat linings, Sunday ties my uncles wore, scrapes of wool and squares cut from overalls. It was wonderful, and she told me the stories behind all the pieces.
Crazy quilts are magical. Especially antique ones as they are a record of the past. What a treat it must have been to listen to the stories about the fabrics that went into the crazy quilt your gran made for your mother. Thanks for popping in and sharing this your experience with us.
Love your triangles! How did you manage to sew such perfect points? Mine do not meet.
Triangles are not easy to work with. I think it’s because the seams are cut on the bias that we have a hard time aligning everything nicely. What I did is stuck a pin in the very point of the triangles to match them and then pinned in between and sewed slowly. Pressing without distorting the triangle helps too. Perhaps we should starch the fabric before cutting the triangles.
Thanks a lot, Lucie. I’ll try the starch for fabric not yet cut.
