Well that’s another day done and dusted. Time just seems to escape from me. And I have come to the realisation that no matter how organised you are or how much planning you do, on the day things never unfold as you imagined they would. Up until recently I used to plan the coming week on Sunday. More often than not it doesn’t work out as planned. So since the beginning of this year I have given up trying to plan things. I’m trying to go with the flow and so far that seems to be working better for me. Everything still gets done only there’s no set order. Perhaps it’s better to loosen up and just let life happen and make the most of it……….
It’s been another quiet day around here. Apart from a quick trip to the post office I lounged around working on finishing up my Topeka Rose Applique. I had already layered up the quilt top and stitched around the patches anchoring everything in place last week. So today I did the Freemotion Quilting in the negative spaces around the applique patches. I just stitched some simple swirls all over; then I added the binding which was leftover from another project. Next I will add a hanging pocket. I have decided that I will hang this little applique quilt on my sewing room door. So if you come to visit me and my longarm quilting system you will see this little quilt up close and in person when entering the room. So that’s another UFO finished. Yippeeeeee. I feel like skipping around the room. This was a great scrappy project which I enjoyed working on. I’m planning on making more Scrappy Log Cabin blocks using my creamy coloured scraps because I can honestly say that these blocks are great for using as a base for applique work. Only a few more days left in my Use up Your Scraps challenge. Mind you I may just carry on for a while to reduce the quantity of scraps I’m storing.
Tomorrow I’m hoping to flash up the longarm quilting system to start stitching the current quilt. I have an appointment around lunchtime and I’m not sure how long it will take so I don’t know how things will work out. It looks like the snow will be with us again tomorrow. We didn’t get much snow this week because here on the coast it fell mostly as rain. Nobody knows for sure what we’ll get tomorrow. I have so many ideas and techniques I want to try but don’t know where to start. If the weather is not so great it’s the perfect time to stay home and concentrate on these new ideas and techniques. I have enjoyed staying home quietly during the wintry weather over the past two weeks. Sometimes being grounded is just what you need to help you concentrate.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be working on my Lilly Pilly applique project. Whatever you may be doing this evening, wrap up warm because it’s going to freeze tonight. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥

The swirls remind me of “A Starry Night” by VanGogh. Very nice.
I’m glad you like it. It was fun to stitch, not too taxing. Thanks for popping in.
I love your Topeka Rose! I am well on the way to using up my pile of batik strips for the scrappy blocks, and like you I think I will continue using the scraps up, rather than cutting up larger pieces of fabric.
It’s a great feeling using up scraps. And when I do buy some new fabric I won’t feel guilty!
simply gorgeous and I agree with Gardengirl, the swirls are very Van Gogh ^^
Thank you Claire. I’m glad you approve. I can’t wait to do some more Freemotion Quilting now.
