Another productive day……. These are the tools I used most often today.
The scissors in the photo have a hook on the end so I can pull the bobbin thread up to the top of the quilt. These scissors are a longarm quilter’s best friend. And for those of you who don’t recognise the other tool, well it’s the stylus I use on the touch screen computer tablet which controls the digital part of my longarm quilting system. I set off on my longarm quilting journey straight after my Sarah left for school this morning. By 9:00hrs the tracks were clean and the sewing head was lint free and oiled ready to get on with the day’s work. Originally I had planned on only doing a half day on the system but I got carried away and finished the job just before Sarah got home from school. The quilt looks great and I will get in touch with Carol first thing in the morning to let her know it’s ready.
So it looks like I’ve freed up tomorrow because I finished with the longarm quilting which was planned over two days. How good is that! I had better choose something to play with for tomorrow then. How exciting……. I can sit quietly and work on my Lilly Pilly or I can do some FMQ using my HandiQuilter Sweet Sixteen or I can pop out and have a look around the shops. The sky’s the limit. I daren’t plan anything today for tomorrow because I’m sure something will happen to change those plans. So I guess I will decide tomorrow morning what I will be doing but in the meantime I will draw up a short list of options.
On Thursday I’m planning on resuming the role of Quilter on the Hill. We will continue making the journal we started a couple of weeks ago before the wintry weather took hold. So if you would like to join me to work on this fun project please contact us to book yourself in. I am currently working on another couple of small pieces that I may offer as projects we can work on Thursdays. It’s great fun watching people make things they thought they could never make.
Although it’s been dark and dreary today I hardly noticed because I was so busy in the sewing room. Before I leave you this evening I’ll tell you about something that happened to me in the sewing this afternoon. As I was approaching the home straight on today’s quilt, the story I was listening to on my mp3 player finished and the next song in the playlist came on. It was Feliz Navidad sung by Michael Buble leftover from Christmas. As I was hand guiding my HandiQuilter sewing head across the last border I was singing and thoroughly enjoying myself. I came to the end of the border and decided to have a little cha-cha-cha session to the music in celebration of having finished the quilt. However I did not realise that my neighbour was in his garden working while looking in my direction. So he got a floor show of me singing and doing the cha-cha! I can only imagine what he thought I was doing as he could not hear the music that was playing in my ears only! It’s been many years since I’ve had a dance session. I must do it more often even if the neighbours think I’m nuts……….
So that’s my meagre report for today. It’s been an interesting day. I wonder what tomorrow will bring.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be drawing up a shortlist of options for tomorrow and also doing some more work on my Lilly Pilly applique project. Whatever you may be doing this evening, I hope it’s something productive. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥

The quilt looks lovely! Isn’t it good to finish ahead of schedule and then have some free time!!
Absolutely. I have a very long shortlist of options for what I might be doing tomorrow!
Hiya Lucie – having a chuckle at your celebratory dancing and singing session – perhaps we could have an encore at The Crafts House (Tee hee!) I’m loving your apple fabric on the first photo – I like the nice simple bright colours – so cheerful for a dreary rainy, windy day! The pin-wheel design quilt is beautiful too – the cream background is a nice contrast for the colourful pinwheels. I’m back at my textile class after a long winter break and made needle felt “flames” in hot pink and bright orange for my fire inspired textile piece! So I will indeed be doing something productive until I read you again – away to do some lovely hand sewing. Stay warm, take care. Karen x
