Believe it or not the first month of 2013 is ending today. Doesn’t time fly? I spent a good part of the day on the Hill playing the role of Quilter on the Hill. As usual a good time was had by all. Both Shelley and Sylvia joined to me make a scrappy Journal Cover. Shelley started hers a couple of weeks ago before the wintry weather set in and Sylvia got hers started today. It was great fun guiding the ladies thru the steps of making said journal cover. We were lovely and cosy tucked up inside while the wind was whistling around outside. The lovely Amy kept our coffee cups topped up. In two weeks we hope to meet again to work on another project. This time we’re aiming to put a bit of paint on fabric and then adding a few hand stitches. I’m going to start practicing this weekend. I think a few hearts would be nice. Here are a few action shots of today.
I just can’t believe that Use up Your Scraps month has finished today. I plan on doing a report on all the scrappy projects I have worked on this month. I plan to carry on making scrapping projects all thru the year in amongst other things. I have decided that my theme for February is Finish it Up; meaning that I will try to finish as many UFOs as I can. I’m sure there are plenty of you already working on finishing UFOs, if so let me know how you manage to stay on track.
So one of the first things I will be doing during Finish it Up month is using this frame for hand quilting.
My beginners are starting to hand quilt their Simple Trip Around the World. So I thought I would join them in the challenge. I have layered the quilt and even started marking it. It’s quite a while since I did any hand quilting so I think I might just enjoy this little project. It’s not a very big quilt so I’m hoping to be well into the job by the time I meet with my ladies again the week after next.
It’s been a busy day for me but manic. I always enjoy being useful and that’s exactly how things worked out today. I was even able to breathe in between sentences. It’s all good stuff……..
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be planning the next Quilter on the Hill project. I think the sketchbook will be filling quickly with all the ideas. Whatever you may be doing this evening, I hope you’re doing something relaxing sheltered from the blustery winds. Until your read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥

When I decided to join you in using up scraps, I thought I would simply make some small items – I certainly didn’t expect to produce not one, but two scrappy quilt tops! I’m looking forward to making the effort to get more things finished in February!
Just looking at how well we did using up our scraps, imagine how much we can get finished in February. I love a manageable challenge. It’s good to have a goal to work towards. I look forward to Wednesday.
When did you get your camera out??! Ha good session:) looking forward to seeing your February projects! X
I didn’t use my camera I used my phone. I’ve finally started embracing the 21st century by using my phone for more than just calling and texting.
I agree it was a good session.
Definitely good although I didn’t manage to nab Amy’s fab canvas damn!!
Perhaps Amy will teach us how to make a fab canvas.
Now there’s a thought
