Happy Saturday everyone. It’s been another great day in Happy Longarm Quilter Land. We’ve had quite a bit of sunshine but still brrrrrr cold. My Sarah and I decided that we would stay in our lovely cosy humble abode today. We’re hoping that we can get out for a painting session tomorrow.
I did a variety of things indoors today. I got quite a lot of chores done and I worked on one or two projects. One is a UFO Christmas stitchery. It’s almost finished now and will most definitely be ready in time for Christmas this year. Once again I will be able to use up some more scraps to piece the patchwork surround for this scrappy little project. And the other project I worked on is this.
Can you guess what’s in this roll?
Here’s another clue………
Well that last clue didn’t help very much did it? Well here’s a more revealing photo of this useful project.
I have wanted to make a paintbrush roll for ages. Well at least since I made my knitting needle roll some months ago. I got so used to using up my scraps during Use up Your Scraps month of January that I just automatically dragged out a few scraps and used them up. These scraps were from a batch of hand dyed calico which I dyed many years ago. This very simple roll can be used to store many things. The next roll I will be making will be used to store my crochet hooks. This particular project took no time at all to make up. Perhaps you have something that could be stored in a roll. Why not have a go for yourself…….
While I was messing around in the sewing room I started shifting things around. I put lots of stuff away and gathered lots of paper for the recycling. What a difference a little shifting makes. I can almost see the worktops now. I’m sure the next time I work on another project I will end up making a mess all over again. Perhaps it’s time to be brutal and get rid of a few things. I am a lifelong hoarder. I made a little pile of UFOs that I plan on working on sometime soon. These few bits are just the tip of the iceberg. There are stacks of project that need finishing. There’s absolutely no way I can finish them all during Finish it Up February but if I get half a dozen things finished I will be very happy.
I love days like today. I worked on some fun stuff and I also got some chores done. I even did a bit of cooking. When the weather is cold I feel the need for some comfort food. So we’re having a hearty Chilli Con Carne, jacket potato and salad for our evening meal. The Chilli should warm us thru. I tried to be accurate when I was measuring the chilli powder so as not to make it too hot. This happens to be Sarah’s favourite meal.
Well that’s my tale for today. The Happy Longarm Quilter girls have had a great day indoors. Sarah was busy with computer stuff and I was busy with lots of different things. I look forward to sitting down quietly this evening. I’m hoping for something interesting to watch on the old box.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be working on a recent UFO such as Lilly Pilly or perhaps hand quilting a Simple Trip Around the World. Whatever you may be doing, I hope you’re also warm and cosy indoors. Until you real me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥

Love the paintbrush roll! I agree it is definitely quilting weather. I try to have a hand quilting project to work on over the winter.
Anytime is a good time for a hand quilting project but winter is the best. Thanks for popping in today.
