Well I’m very happy to report that the weather was playing nicely today and so my Sarah and I made our way up the Hill to have a painting session. What a lovely relaxing time we had. Do you remember this dishwashing tablet tub that I started working on last week?
Well that’s what I worked on during our session on the Hill this morning. I gave it the kitchen sink treatment by using a little sequin waste as a stencil and a reward card for more paint effects. I made a lid from a cereal box. Upcycling at it’s best………
I will add some text and some scrapbook papers. The theme for this bucket is wishes, hopes and dreams. I plan on making journal pages and storing them in this bucket. I’ll let you know how I get on with this later.
Now today I had a communication with someone who wasn’t sure how the Supreme Slider works. So I decided that I would tell you about my experience with this fab Freemotion Quilting tool. I have had mine for about four years and they are now readily available in the UK. The Supreme Slider is a mat made of Teflon. The topside (white) is the slipperiest material you can imagine which reduces the resistance when you’re moving your quilt along the sewing machine Freemotion quilting. The back side of the mat which is pink is sticky which holds it in place without the use of double-sided tape or anything else that can make of mess of your sewing bed. The point of this mat is that by reducing drastically the resistance, you don’t have to work so hard to get the Freemotion Quilting job done. I believe that this mat is really the secret of my success. If I could only afford one FMQ tool the Supreme Slider is the one I would purchase. This really does work. As you can see in my photo the Supreme Slider mat has a hole for the needle and covers the feed dogs so it is NOT suitable for walking foot work. When you use your walking foot you need your feed dogs up so that the foot, with the help of the feed dogs, feeds your quilt evenly top and bottom. I have absolutely no affiliation with the Supreme Slider Company. The reason I’m speaking up is that I really do think it’s a good tool for FMQ.
So that’s my little report for today. I didn’t do any sewing today. I hope to get on with a few bits tomorrow though. I have a couple of appointments tomorrow otherwise I can play in the sewing room quietly. This week I hope to be able to report some UFO finishes. I hope you all plan on joining me to Finish it Up this month. I’m quite excited about it. It seems that Punxsutawney Phil, the ground hound has predicted that spring will come early. Apparently Phil did not see his shadow on Saturday and the legend is that when Phil does not see his shadow spring will be here early…….. Something else to look forward to.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be working on Lilly Pilly applique work. It’s looking really good now. Whatever you may be doing this Sunday evening, I hope you’re relaxing in readiness for a busy week ahead. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥

Thank you very much for the explanation and photo of how the Supreme Slider works.
Your very welcome. I just hope this info is of some use to you. I’m glad you popped in today.
Thanks for the insight. That certainly answered my question about the walking foot. I learn so much from bloggers!
