I haven’t had a lot of time for blog reading lately. I must make the time to catch up. I love to keep up with what’s going on in blogland because I can find so much inspiration for others. So my goal for this weekend is to catch up on all the blogs I follow.
I’m quite a simple kind of person. When things get a little on of top of me and I need to escape I simply take refuge in my imaginary beach hut. This lovely card with a fabulous message in it arrived this morning. I was on the phone with my home insurance broker on hold listening to elevator music and reading this card. My eyes welled up with tears because the words came straight from the heart. And wouldn’t you know it; I realised later that it’s Friend Day today. So happy Friend Day to everyone. What….. You’ve never heard of Friend Day? Well that’s ok because I made it up exactly one year ago today. Any reason for a celebration will do for me!
Don’t walk behind me; I may not lead.
Don’t walk in front of me; I may not follow.
Just walk beside me and be my friend.
~ Albert Camus
Yesterday I promised to post some photos of a few pages of the current issue of Primitive Quilts. So here they are.
I have been doing a happy dance since yesterday. And here is the reason.
I finished Freemotion Quilting and binding my Dresden Circle quilt yesterday. I dragged it outside this afternoon to get some reasonable photos. It’s been dark and dreary all day but the photos are pretty good.
I really enjoyed working on this quilt; from deciding what to applique on it right thru to binding it and I’m very pleased to add this finish to my Finish it Up page. I’m looking forward to working on another such project.
Last week I started developing another idea for Thursday’s Quilter on the Hill session. I have gathered a few bits and I have made some preliminary decisions about what supplies to use where. I have sharpened my pencil and sketched out a layout and now I’m doing the actual stitching. I think Thursday’s going to be fun. It’s always great to get together with like-minded people. And it’s even more fun to see what they will produce with the same supplies. It’s not too late to join us for a spot of mixed media stitching.
Well I’ve had another topsy turvy day. Everything I wanted to get done today ended up on the back burner. I spent a good part of the morning on the phone sorting one thing or another out. My visit to the supermarket was rescheduled from tomorrow to today. So I’m hoping that tomorrow will be a more productive day and hopefully the headache that started developing mid-morning will be gone by then. In the meantime, I will be planning the quilting designs for the quilt that is currently loaded in the longarm quilting system.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be working on stitching around a heart. Whatever you may be doing this evening, I hope you enjoy the journey you’re on. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥

Hi Lucie, I loved that quote, it’s so heartfelt isn’t it. I enjoyed reading your post today and especially your idea of Friend Day. I had finally got around to ringing my wonderful oldest best friend this morning and two hours and lots of laughter later, we said goodbye, so I felt chuffed that I had rung her on Friend day without knowing! – Suzy
I’m glad you enjoyed a long conversation with your oldest best friend yesterday. Thanks for popping in.
Hey – happy friend day to the happy quilter 🌻
Oh thank you and the same to you.
A beautiful card, a beautiful quote, a beautiful quilt and a beautiful post.
Thank you for your kind words.
