Well I think I’m back on track now. I went AWOL yesterday because I needed a little break but I think I’m getting back into the groove now. I’ve done a whole load of little jobs this weekend. I played with a particular selection of fabrics yesterday.
I have been using this little selection in my Mystery Whimsical Applique & Stitchery project. I made some applique patches …..
And tacked said applique patches to the background fabric …..
I’m now working on part 3 and it’s coming along nicely. I can’t wait to see the whole project joined up together. I really like the selection of fabric I used. It was originally intended for a Bargello project but when the opportunity of teaching my mystery quilt came up I decided that it would be a lovely selection of fabrics for this project. So the heart shaped Bargello has been put on the back burner for the time being.
Something else I worked on over the weekend ……
I pieced some Scrappy Log Cabin blocks back in May but had to set them aside to work on other stuff. Well I decided to join them up yesterday. I was thinking about using this for a background for some more whimsical applique. One way or another I will be adding a couple of borders to finish it off nicely.
My Sarah and I stepped out this morning in search of an ice cube tray. My ice tray was old and it wasn’t easy to remove the ice cubes from it. And although we only went out to purchase an ice cube tray we came home with a few other things of course. I bought these vintage looking buttons
and my Sarah treated me to this birdhouses rubber stamp. I love this little rubber stamp
And possibly the most important task of the weekend was to load Joan’s fab quilt into my longarm quilting system. It wasn’t easy to choose the thread colour for this quilt. Blues can sometimes be difficult to match. I have narrowed it down to midnight blue and white. And Joan has selected two different quilting designs. Both of which would look really good on this particular quilt. I’ll make the final decisions when I flash up the system.
The “A” is for Applique July blocks, Looking out my Window are arriving in my inbox in dribs and drabs. Here’s Anne’s block. If you would like to view all the blocks so far click here.
Well tomorrow is Monday, the first day of the week. Looking at my weekly diary, it looks like it’s going to be a pretty busy one yet again. I don’t think there will be much time for playing in the sewing room. We’ll just have to wait and see how things play out.
So what have you been doing this weekend? I hope you’ve had some time to play with fabrics and sewing machines. If you’re just coming home from your summer holiday, I hope you’ve had a wonderful relaxing time. I’ve had a really good time working on this and that. I’ve even taken the time to do a little tidying up but as usual got distracted. Tomorrow is another day……
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will probably be working on some hexagons or tumbling blocks. I fancy a little play with EPP this evening just to make a change from applique work. I hope whatever you decide to do this evening, it’s something enjoyable. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
