It’s been a super Saturday. We’ve had sunshine and showers but I’ve hardly noticed the weather because I have been occupied every minute since I woke up at 6 o’clock this morning. The days just fly by. I can never honestly say that I’m bored but I can say I need a change of pace or scenery. And I got both today…….
I left the house quite early this morning to make my way over to The Quilters Cupboard to visit with my friend Rita and two of her friends, both called Margaret. Both Margaret want their quilt tops longarm quilted. It’s amazing how many talented people there are in my corner of the UK. It makes we want to make more quilts. That isn’t to say that I don’t have enough quilts in the house; I have plenty. I have several of other lady’s quilt tops sitting in my sewing room waiting to be quilted and they are all really lovely. I hope to bring you progress reports as and when I finish longarm quilting them. I think you will be impressed with the unusual quilt tops coming thru my sewing room at the moment. These latest quilt tops are certainly going to make my life more interesting for the next few weeks.
Now while I was at The Quilters Cupboard I fondled fabric of all descriptions. And of course I did have a little list of fabrics that I planned to bring home. You might remember that I wanted to purchase some solids. Well here’s my little pile of solid fabrics …….
I plan on making some small simply pieced quilts that I can practice my new Dot-to-Dot Freemotion quilting on. I was never partial to solid fabrics but nowadays anything goes. Once again, change is good.
I also picked up this Moda Scrap Bag. I purchased one of these years ago and used it for small projects that I could practice Freemotion Quilting on. I think I might use this one to make a quilt for Quilts for Comfort. Watch this space for a progress report.
Now this next photo is for Meredithe. My new boots are nothing special but I like them. They look tidy and I think I can get away with wearing them with skirts if I choose. I find it very difficult to find boots to fit my wide calves and these fit beautifully. What do you think Meredithe?
Before leaving this morning I cut up a few dozen squares from fat quarters I purchased this week. Well when I got home from visiting Rita and the two Margarets I disappeared into the sewing room so I could start sewing my squares. I turned my squares into half square triangles……
Then turned the half square triangles into these Friendship Star blocks …..
And proceeded to turn the Friendship Star Blocks into a table runner….. I’m quite pleased with how this project has turned out. This table runner has been purposely made for a specific surface. I hope to start quilting it tomorrow. I believe I have the perfect thread colour to compliment the fabrics.
I realised something this afternoon. I think there’s something about pins that attracts me. I purchased these three boxes of pins in the past week. These three kinds of pins, patchwork, applique and sequin pins have a specific purpose. Do you have special pins that you use for specific tasks? Would you like to share the uses of your pins with us? I wouldn’t want to be missing out one something I didn’t know about. So do speak up if you’ve found something new that we might not know about.
Well it’s been a good day in happy longarm quilter land. I chatted with loads of like-minded people at The Quilters Cupboard, I fondled fabric, I did some sewing and even finished piecing a project and I’m about to tuck into a lovely home cooked meal. What more could a happy longarm quilter ask for? I hope you all had a super day. Tomorrow I hope to spend a few hours with my Sarah. She will soon be spending her days at college and things will be rather quiet in happy longarm quilter land. I have no doubt my Sarah will come home with work which will involve her old mum, especially when it comes to the textile section of her studies!
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be working freezer paper and perhaps sketchbook and pencils. I hope you have a fab Saturday night. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
