Well I’m still working on the perfect balance of longarm quilting, playing and working; well I guess I mean chores and playing. I have to admit that I didn’t do much playing today. I stepped out first thing to run a few errands and on my return I carried on working on Helen’s lovely table runner. I measured and chalked out the trimming lines and then carried on with quilting the outer section of the runner. As you may remember my brief was light quilting. So I stayed true to the brief and just stitched straight lines of stitching.
I marked off large sections and then broke up those large sections into smaller ones. I was a bit perplexed with how I should quilt the end sections of the table runner but I soon worked that out. As you can see what I’ve done with this quilt can be done on any sewing machine. So now all the quilting is done; even the thread ends have been sewn in. I machined the binding on and I hope to get the hand finishing done on Thursday. Custom jobs take so much longer than all over jobs. In the time I’ve spent on this little quilt I could have longarm quilted a double quilt with an all over design.
After having worked on Helen’s table runner I have decided that I must make one for myself. I think I will make mine square though and definitely not on a black background. I’ve found working with black rather challenging. So I’m so keen on making this type of quilt block that I ordered the paper templates today. And my plan is to use scraps. Goodness knows I have plenty of scraps to work with. And perhaps my background will be pieced! Who knows what I can accomplish if I put my brain to work. This block reminds me of a double wedding ring. So I’m looking forward to getting started but the templates won’t be here for a while so it gives me a chance to finish up a few projects first.
Well it’s been another good productive day. I’m so pleased to have accomplished as much as I have on Helen’s table runner. I love it when a plan comes together. Tomorrow I will be up at Stitchin’ Heaven helping a second group of ladies with their sampler quilt.
This evening I’m hoping to turn this …..
into something like this …..
And maybe turn this ….
into something like this ….
I have one or two birthdays coming this month so I need a few little gifts. I think these sewing accessories make great gifts. I know I would love to receive something like these as a gift!
So you know what I’ll be working on this evening. I hope you spend the evening working on something lovely that give you a good sense of accomplishment. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
