It almost feels like things have gone back to normal. It actually felt like a Saturday today. We did what we normally do and it was really great. I’ve gotten into the habit of getting up around 7:15 which of course is pure luxury for someone who general wakes up around 5.00! The sun will soon start rising earlier and things will really be back to normal.
I spent a couple of hours in my sewing room this afternoon playing with scraps and doing some Freemotion Quilting. I just picked out a handful of scraps and went to town with them. Here’s a little peek at what I ended up with……
Once again I had a really fun time. I plan on taking this simple technique a little further tomorrow. My head is swimming with ideas that I must try out. I’ve really enjoyed my Use up Your Scraps session
After cleaning my sewing machine yesterday and while testing to make sure I had put everything back together I did this …..
You’re probably wondering what on earth I’m going to do with this. Well to be honest I didn’t know either until the light bulb lit up over my head…….
I plan on parking my current favourite needle in one of these little needle keeper cushions. The needle is one that I use daily while finishing up a current project. For instance, I use a different needle for stitchery work than I use for appliqué work so in my stitchery workbox I keep a collection of stranded cotton as well as en embroidery needle which I will park in one of the little needle keeper cushions I just made. The cushions were very simple to make, it’s just a sandwich with a bit of simple straight machine quilting. It was a great way of testing that the tension was spot on for the job I wanted to do while making something useful.
I’ve had another great day in happy longarm quilter land. I hope to do the same tomorrow. I have a better idea of what I plan to do in 2014. After taking a few days to ponder what it is I really want to do and I hope to get myself on track this week. My Sarah goes back to college which will give me more time to do what I need to do. There will be less to distract me but I think it’s going to be really quiet in happy longarm quilter land for a few days until I get used to it again.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be doing some stitchery work. I hope you have a fabulous evening working on something you really enjoy. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
