It’s finally Friday. I do like Fridays. Today was quite an interesting day. I headed north to Stitchin’ Heaven this morning. It was Beginner’s Sampler Quilt day. Once again my ladies were very enthusiastic about working on the next blocks in the series. No sooner had I handed out the info for this month’s blocks that they got started on choosing fabrics. We had one newbie today and all the others know what they have to do. There were a few questions but all in all my ladies are well on their way to creating a beautiful sampler quilt. I say there were questions but to be honest the questions were mainly about fabric prints/colours. A lot of ladies have trouble choosing fabrics. I’m slowly learning to use brights after years of using medium to dark subdued fabrics. As often as I can I add red to a project. I love red but it can be very bold at times. For me bold is a wow fabric. And a wow fabric is the one that draws your eye around the quilt looking for the next little bit of wow. I’ll show you what I mean over the next couple of months.
Creating is a very important part of my life. I have recently taken to designing my own new projects and it makes me so happy to be creative. I realise that the projects I design are not necessarily to everyone’s taste. Have you created something new lately? Do you have something new to share with us?
I have recently been asked for tips about rotary cutting strips. I haven’t had time to post about that yet but I will. I have also been asked about stitch rippers. And that’s something I will post about soon. There are so many different styles of stitch ripper of which I have a few. I haven’t forgotten about it, I simply haven’t had the time yet.
While I was tidying up a little earlier in the week I found all kinds of what I call Sunday Best fabrics. You know what I’m talking about; the fabric that you really like but just can’t bear to cut into it. And why should we wait for Sunday to cut up our best/favourite fabric. Think my Sunday is just around the corner. The more I think about it, I can’t think of a better reason to use my favourite fabrics to make useful things that I will love to use. My Sunday will be here soon…..
While I was e-shopping for quilting motifs a few days ago I purchased a couple more all over designs …..
I love these new designs. I’m hoping to make a couple of quilts for Quilts for Comfort during my summer break and perhaps I will use these new designs to quilt them.
It’s been a busy day in my world. My ladies kept me on my toes. It was brilliant to see all the progress they’ve all made since out last meeting. Tomorrow I get to do it all over again with my second group. And Sunday I’m hoping for a quiet day.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be doing some preliminary appliqué work. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something you really enjoy. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
