Yesterday when it came time to publish my daily post my laptop decided that it just wasn’t doing it. At times technology defeats me. Today I have decided to retrace my steps but using an old laptop and somehow I have managed to get a little further than I did yesterday. So here is the post that was meant to appear last evening.
Timeline: Tuesday March 11, 2014
Second day of the week and the sun is still shining. It’s been another lovely day in my little corner of the northeast of England. I woke up this morning feeling a wee bit under the weather but I didn’t let that stop me. I disappeared into the sewing room to do some longarm quilting. By late afternoon I was feeling a bit better. I think I’m going to have to stay away from the madding crowd for a day or two so as not to pass it on to anyone else.
As planned yesterday, I worked on Susan’s quilt today. I believe this quilt is a disappearing nine patch block and I love it. Susan used quite a variety of Batiks and it’s bright and cheerful. The quilting design I chose was one called Kashmir by Hermione Agee and I used a nice fine dried sage thread which just melts away in the background. I auditioned several threads and the soft green was the best match. When you have a multi-coloured quilt top and you can’t decide what thread colour to use, look at the backing fabric and choose something that blends nicely with that.
While I was waiting for my Sarah to come home from college I decided to load the next quilt into my longarm quilting system…..
This quilt was pieced by Mary. I believe this quilt is a wedding present so I’m squeezing it in. Mary has chosen a very popular quilting design and a cream colour thread. I hope to bring you a progress report soon.
I set a little time aside this afternoon to prepare a Dresden Plate block for Saturday. I am hand piecing a beginner’s sampler quilt along with my students. I must admit I quite like the quiet preparation and the relax hand stitching which I do mainly in the evening while I’m watching TV. Like most people I can’t sit in front of the TV without working on some kind of craft. Hand piecing blocks or working on hexagons is the perfect quiet armchair project. Something else that works really well for me is looking thru my patchwork and quilting books and magazine for inspiration. I can’t think of a better way to spend a quiet evening at home.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be hand piecing a Dresden Plate block. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something you thoroughly enjoy. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
P.S.: I hoping that using this old laptop has solved my posting problems. What a kerfuffle.
Thank you for leaving a comment. ;-)
