If you’re a regular reader of my daily ramblings you will know that I set myself a challenge for the weekend. The challenge was to longarm quilt as many quilts as I could. Well here is a little clue …..
Yes folks, I managed to longarm quilt three quilts. Not only that but I bound them as well. I already posted a photo of the one I worked on Friday …..
Friday’s effort was pretty much straight forward. So now let’s move onto Saturday’s effort. Once again this one was pretty straight forward. Both Friday’s and Saturday’s quilt were pieced by Sylvia using her own stash.
Now we move onto today’s effort.
Today’s effort was not quite as straight forward. Before doing any longarm quilting I decided to make the quilt a little bigger by adding a couple of borders. So I searched my stash until I found something that might do the trick. Once the borders were added I loaded the quilt top into my longarm quilting system to start stitching this morning.
While all this longarm quilting was going on in my sewing room my Sarah was piecing a quilt top upstairs in her room using one of my little sewing machines. She finished piecing it yesterday and immediately layered the quilt up in order to start tying it. This is he sight that greeted me this morning …..
All the tying is done now and my Sarah is currently sitting quietly hand finishing the binding. All the quilt labels have been attached and by tomorrow morning we will have four quilts to hand over to Quilts for Comfort. So all in all I think I met my self-imposed weekend longarm quilt-a-thon.
I’ve learned one or two things about myself this weekend. The first is that I am quite a determined person. Once or twice I wished I could sit down to do some quiet hand sewing instead of baking in my sewing room with my longarm quilting system. And the second discovery about myself is that when I set myself a challenge it’s important to keep thinking about the end result which in this case was the comfort I will bring to a few deserving young people. And that’s what kept me going strong all weekend. I still have a little stack of charity quilt tops that need longarm quilting so I have decided to do one a week until the pile has disappeared.
I was asked by Marion yesterday for a list of fabric requirements for finishing up my Beginner’s Sampler Quilt. Marion wants to take advantage of the sale at Stitchin’ Heaven this coming week. So for any of my beginners please click here to see the list of requirements.
Before I go I must tell you again that I did not piece any of the quilt tops I longarm quilted this weekend. They were blocks and quilt tops that were donated to Quilts for Comfort which I took home to finish off.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be helping Sarah with hand finishing the binding on her charity quilt and perhaps playing with hexagons again. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something that makes you happy. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥

I’m quite pleased with our effort. It’s amazing what you can get done if you put your mind to it.
Thanks for popping in Sandra the birthday girl.
Well done you and what a lovely job you,ve done too. Also a big pat on the back for Sarah, as that quilt is lovely. (she must take after her Mum). I’m sure you’ll all make somebody happy and warm. Take care.
Thank you Susan.
You did good Lucie!, how many hours did they all take you? Maybe you should host a charity funded quiltathon and get people to sponser you for how many how can do! Love Suzy
Getting the Quilts finished gave me a great sense of accomplishment Suzy. Do you do any charity quilting work Suzy? It’s a great way to get some practice in.
Thanks for popping in today.
