It’s been another lovely day in my little world. I have noticed that the days are getting shorter however I still seem to pack them just as full as always. I’m trying to spend as much time with my Sarah as I can before college starts again but we seem to both be rather busy over the last week or so. We’ll have to try to make up for that this week.
Well I think we’re ready for college. Sarah has checked her list and mostly everything has been purchased and put by for the start next week. I’ve enjoyed looking at art supplies, portfolios, pencil cases, sketching pencils, sketch books and lovely pens of all description. I’ve even purchased a few for myself. My downfall is notebooks. I’ve always got a notebook on the go to record all my ideas and my daily To-Do Lists. I’m sure I’ve got enough notebooks to keep me going for quite some time.
I discovered a new fabric collection on Facebook this morning. Apparently it will be shipped to the quilting/fabric shops in the very near future. I really love the look of Honey Meadow by Lewis & Irene. So if any of the LQS in my area are taking delivery of this lovely collection please let me know. It will save me time and effort. Hunting and gathering can be so time consuming. I have the perfect project for this fabric collection.
While we ran some errands this morning I found this …..
Can you believe that this is Duck Tape? My how times have changed. This roll of tape was calling my name so it came home with me. The spell check on my laptop is telling me that it should be called Duct Tape but as you can see the label actually reads Duck Tape …..
The only fabric I bought yesterday was of the Tweed variety but my Sarah, who has recently taken an interesting in textile work, chose these. I’m so pleased she has gone for bright fresh prints unlike the colours I usually go for.
I did do a wee bit of sewing today but I cannot reveal what I have been working on just yet. So you’ll just have to wait a while to see today’s effort. I can reveal what I will be working this evening though. I spent a few minutes preparing these few patches to be hand pieced together this evening. These patches will form a simple Nine Patch Block sample for Monday’s speaking engagement.
So far it’s been a super slow paced quiet weekend. Just what the doctor ordered. Yesterday’s outing was rather tiring. I drove quite a distance, spent hours walking around the quilt show in the crowds. There’s one conversation stands out quite vividly from yesterday. And that conversation was with the owner/operator of The Quilted Bear. I have been buying from The Quilted Bear at shows and on Amazon for quite a while now. The one thing he said that stayed with me is that he loves doing craft fairs; they’re fun. Well I must say that when I arrived at the show in Harrogate yesterday things were in full swing and the noise levels and the crowds were not fun. Don’t get me wrong, I really love going to quilt shows. I’m always looking for the next new technique or tool and what better place to launch such a thing than at a quilt show. And while we’re on the subject I did find a new tool/technique but I haven’t ordered it yet. I will make enquiries and hopefully report my findings to you soon. So watch this space.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be hand piecing a couple of Nine Patch blocks. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something that makes you happy. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
