Where do I start? In this day and age we’re all busy. So I’m sure this evening it comes as no surprise that I’m going to tell you that I’ve had a good productive day. For me, there just seems to be so many things that I have to get done before I can have some well-deserved me-time.
My day started at 6am. Although I must admit that my toes didn’t touch the floor for another 15 minutes. Mostly due to lack of motivation! Once I was up I was like a Tasmanian devil; I got thru every bit of my To-Do List and more.
I was out and about for a good part of the day. I had several errands to run and as you know there are days when it can be difficult to get from A to B without hitting traffic jams. Well today I hit absolutely no traffic! In fact I made such good time that I even stopped for a mid-morning break because I was in need of sustenance. I had my breakfast very early on this morning so by 10am I was flagging a little. So I popped into a Costa Coffee shop on my travels. I was greeted by a well groomed, polite young man who was in very good spirits. It’s been my experience that happy polite people are in short supply these days. The young man took my order and while he made my coffee we chatted. That little conversation set me up for the day. It made me feel like a valued member of society.
When I got home I got down to the nitty gritty and started putting my evening meal together before I disappeared into my sewing room to load the next quilt into my longarm quilting system.
Now I can’t tell you too much about this next quilt for reasons that will be revealed some time soon. Along with this job comes a feeling of freedom because I’ve got Carte Blanche to do whatever I like. I have absolutely no idea what I’m going to do just yet but whatever I end up doing it’s got to be good! No pressure then ….. Whatever I do, I’m going to have fun.
After loading that quilt I decided that I needed a little distraction from my recent day-to-day routine. So I went back to a Quilt-as-You-Go project that I started some weeks ago which I was really enjoying. The sun was shining in my sewing room and my TV was burbling away in the background. And all was well with the world until the phone rang and scared me back into reality. I was in a dreamy world while my sewing machine was purring away. It all went so well that I’ve almost reached my quota of 24 blocks. I’ll soon be able to join the blocks and turn them into something interesting.
One of the tasks on my To-Do List was to locate the fabric for a certain project. I’ve had the fabric for some months now but I haven’t done anything with it yet. So after a little digging around in my many stash bins I found it …..
I need to turn this into a double bed quilt. I’ve got two skeleton panels and of course I’ve got lots of bits in my stash that I can add to the panels to bring it up to size. I’m hoping to get started over the weekend. There isn’t any rush but as it’s the spooky season it would be nice to get it finished.
Well ladies and gents, it’s been a brilliant day in happy longarm quilter land. I got far more done today than I anticipated I would and even got a bit of playtime in. Tomorrow I will be teaching my Festive Whimsy at Stitchin’ Heaven. It’s a good group; everyone happy and cheerful. It’s going to be a fun day spent in the company of like-minded people. Now if the weather behaves accordingly I’ll be even happier.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be doodling and perhaps hand piecing some blocks. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something that makes you happy. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
