Hello my crafty friends. Is everyone jolly happy today? It’s Monday and Monday is now my day off. It used to be Friday but this year my Sarah’s day off from college is Monday so I have adjusted my work schedule so we can get out and about together. We headed out this morning to restock the kitchen.
It’s been a dark dreary day in happy longarm quilter land today. So I spent a couple of hours with Mr. Chillingsworth. I cut strips in order to fashion a checkerboard border …..
Here’s what Mr. Chillingsworth looks like now ……
And his twin …..
I think adding this simple little checkerboard border makes him so much more interesting. The next step is piecing spacer blocks but I think I might have to purchase a few more fabrics to add variety. So far I’m pretty pleased with this project.
Last evening while watching the latest episode of Downton Abbey I played with beads …..

I don’t often play with beads but last night’s session was fun. I saw projects finished with beads just like this a couple years ago at a show and I have wanted to try this ever since. So now that I have tried this and lived to tell the tale I will definitely be doing it again. It’s rather easy. Now it looks like I’m going to have to get a few more colours of beads because I’m addicted to this technique!
Well it’s been a great day in my little world. I got several household chores done and I even got a chance to do a little bit of sewing. Tomorrow will be full of longarm quilting and appointments. In fact the rest of the week is going to be busy. If you have been wanting to learn Freemotion Quilting you might like to join me on Friday for a class at Stitchin’ Heaven. Of all the classes I teach, Freemotion Quilting has to be my favourite. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s a technique I really enjoy or because it’s a pleasure watching others learn it. Friday’s students will be producing blocks which will be joined using a Quilt as You Go method turning it into a Freemotion Quilting Sampler. For more info or to book a class please contact Stitchin’ Heaven on 01665 570 833.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be hand piecing some blocks. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something that makes you happy. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
