Hello my lovely friends. Have you been busy today? For me Monday is always a busy day. I can always tell what kind of week it’s going to be on Monday. Today was a quietly productive day. I spent quite a lot of time in my sewing room longarm quilting Linda’s sampler quilt. This is Linda’s first ever quilt …..
A quilt this size is quite an undertaking for a first quilt. There is a total of 30 blocks of varying techniques. I’m quite sure Linda enjoyed every minute of piecing this quilt. And I have no doubt it will be treasured for many years to come.
When I walked my little dog this morning I got the distinct impression that winter is just around the corner. There was a very fresh breeze and the few leaves left on the ground were crunching under my feet. I would think there was a frost further inland first thing this morning. I wonder if we’re going to have any snow this year. It would be nice to have a wee bit of a dusting for Christmas.
Because it’s feeling rather cold and dismal today, and because I just felt like turning today into a pyjama day I decided we needed some comfort food for this evening’s meal. You know the type of food that warms you up inside. So I made a pot of chilli con carne. It just happens to be Sarah’s favourite and there’s nothing super calorific in it. My kitchen was warm and cosy while I was cooking. Not to mention the lovely smell of comfort food cooking in the air. The smell alone makes you feel warm and cosy.
If all goes well my Sarah will be starting her driving lessons on Saturday. I will not be home when she sets off as I will be teaching a beginner’s sampler quilt class. In some ways I think that might be better for both of us if I’m not standing in the window watching when she sets off for the very first time. Oooh my baby is growing up far too quickly.
Tomorrow will be another busy day for me as I will be attending the monthly volunteer day for Quilts for Comfort. I haven’t decided what I will bring to work on yet but I do have a selection of ongoing projects from which to choose. My goal, as usual, is to be helpful.
If I had any time left over after working on Linda’s quilt this afternoon I would have loaded this quilt …..
This quilt top was pieced by Norma. I believe Norma is quite new to patchwork and quilting. I haven’t told Norma yet that quilt making is addictive. I think perhaps she has already worked it out as this in not just one quilt top. It’s actually two single bed quilt tops. Norma has chosen the lovely Dragonflies from Designs by Vickie as a quilting design for both quilts. And that will be stitched out in white thread. I will try to load the first of these two quilts tomorrow when I get home from my volunteer session.
It’s been a brilliant day in my little world. I’m pleased to have gotten Linda’s quilt finished. Not to mention answering piling up emails and also make a few phone calls to sort a few things out. It’s a great way to start a busy week. I hope the rest of my week unfurls in the same fashion. Have you got a busy week ahead?
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be joining some hand pieced blocks together to form a row. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something you really enjoy. Until your read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
