Helloooooo my lovelies. What a great day it’s been in my little world. I have been pretty busy again today. The washing machine has been going round and round while washing my clothes. The dishwasher has been run and emptied after a wee bit of cooking. And my longarm quilting system has been chugging away like a good one.
I worked on Norma’s quilt today. What a lovely cheerful quilt this is …..
Tomorrow is going to feel like the movie Groundhog Day because I will be longarm quilting another quilt just like today’s as Norma has pieced a matching pair. I have loaded the next quilt into my longarm system ready to start stitching in the morning.
While I was longarm quilting today I was in good company …..
There seemed to be a constant stream of birds feeding this morning. Anyone would think we were going to have a spate of bad weather or something. Regardless, it was lovely to watch them visiting the feeders and baths in my little garden.
Today I have a little tip for you. You might already know this but as it’s a new one to me I thought I would share my findings. Have you got a scrap piece of carpet?
I happen to have one but only because Sarah got a couple of samples from college for some artwork. Well I pinched a piece from her because I thought I needed it. I cut it in half and this is what I do with it.
This little piece of carpet has been cut down to 5” x 5” and I keep it by my sewing machine or near my longarm quilting system. I found that carpet is great for catching loose threads. In my day-to-day duty of longarm quilting I pull a lot of loose threads off quilt tops. Today during the course of longarm quilting I found that a lot less loose threads landed on my floor. In fact none landed on the floor because it’s so easy to wipe the threads onto the carpet. I’ve tried using wadding to catch loose threads but quite often my hands are little rough and the wadding catches my skin as well. I found that the carpet works much better for me. So if you have a little piece of spare carpet try this little trick. I’m sure you’ll find a lot less loose threads hanging off your clothes and your vacuum cleaner will be sucking up fewer threads as well!
It’s been a really good day for me. I’ve done a lot of different things. I even got the chance to draw a bit of a wintry scene …..
Sorry I can’t show you the drawing as it’s a secret for the time being. Heehee. It will be worth the wait.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be doing some stitchery work. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something festive. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
