Hello my lovelies on this bright winters’ day. I hope you’ve all had a super day. It’s been a pretty busy one in happy longarm quilter land. I spent quite a lot of my time today tidying in the kitchen. Christmas has come and gone and now that we’re in the new year I feel I need for things to be nice and tidy. My Sarah spent ages tidying my food pantry a couple of day ago. She went thru all the food and checked the best before date on everything and so a lot of stuff went into today’s rubbish collection. So in the spirit of out with old and in with the new I carried on in the same fashion for a few hours.
Once I had my fill of tidying I disappeared into my sewing room for a sewing fix. My sewing room needs a good tidy as well but I’m saving that for another day. So I chose a task and got on with it. My first choice was adding borders to a table runner I started piecing last week. Now it looks like this …..
And once the layering up was done I auditioned thread colours for the next part which is the machine quilting of course. I narrowed it down to three different colours.
I quite like using thread colours that match the project but in this case I think I would like my students to be able to see what I have done. So I’ll be back another day to reveal which thread colours I have chosen. Hehehe.
I was running out of time, or at least I thought I was running out of time but as my Sarah is at college today and won’t be home until well after dark, I still had a little more time to spend in my sewing room. So I moved on to another job. This time I worked on finishing off my Cathedral Window cushion. I pressed fabric and did some rotary cutting. Now all the components to my envelope cushion back are ready to be sewn together. But that’s a job for tomorrow. You will notice that I have made some Prairie Points. Click here to be taken to a document that describes the simple process of making single Prairie Points. I love to embellish with Prairie Points. There so easy to make and very effective. They add interest and dimension.
I watched a movie trailer on YouTube today. I read about it and decided to go surfing to find the trailer. The movie is The Peanuts Movie. Do you remember the Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz? Well I’m part of the generation that grew up with the Peanuts. After watching the trailer I felt rather nostalgic. Click here to have a look for yourself.
So that was my day in a nutshell. I wonder what tomorrow will bring. I hope to get my envelope cushion back finished and perhaps set up another armchair hand sewing project. If my energy levels are still peaking in the morning, I hope to do a little more tidying. Out with the old and in with the new.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will most likely be planning projects and perhaps working on some hexies. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something relaxing. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
