Hello my lovelies. Have you had a good day? Did you get a chance to do some crafting today? Well I spent another day in my sewing room. I spent a couple of hours making borders for my One Row at a Time quilt …..
I joined up scraps leftover from the quilt blocks and added a fat quarter to the mix for variety of colour. And then added an outer border that matches the sashing and first border. I decided on simple borders because I wanted to keep it simple. By the time all the blocks are made it’s almost a relief to keep the rest of the quilt simple. Now I have to work out how to quilt it. I’m looking forward to the challenge.
I went on to make the binding. I figured as I had the fabric out I may as well cut and join the strips for the binding …..
Did you know that I did a post some time ago that describes how to add binding to a quilt? Well if you’re interesting in learning a simple way click here. Or click on the How-To page at the top.
Something else I worked on today was making tubes which I will use for hanging pockets on my Four Season Whimsy. Here’s little peek at the process of turning the tube thru to the right side. I use a pair of hemostat clamps to pull the tube right side out. It’s an inexpensive tool and works really well.
Speaking of tools, a little while ago I posted about sewing tools that aren’t really tools. And someone suggested that I might like to try a chopstick to poke corners out. Well I purchased a pack of bamboo chopsticks but I found that the chopsticks weren’t quite sharp enough to do a good job. So I sharpened the end of one with an ordinary pencil sharpener. Well it worked a treat. Have a look …..
So once again it’s been a pretty productive day in happy longarm quilter land. It’s lovely to see my projects progressing. I still have lots of embellishing to do on my Four Season Whimsy but as it’s all hand sewing I’m saving that for my armchair in the evening. I usually do the machining in daylight hours and the hand sewing work in the evening.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be doing lots of embellishing and hand quilting. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something that makes you very happy. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
