Helloooo my lovelies. How are you all today? I hope it’s been brighter and warmer in your little world today. I’ve not seen one ray of sunshine today! But I didn’t let the dreary weather get in my way of working thru my To-Do List. And of course I had to adapt my plans due to a delivery we found out we were expecting today. Staying home just helped me get on with things I needed to get done.
So let’s see what’s been happening in happy longarm quilter land today. Along with trivial things like doing 5 loads of washing I loaded Muriel’s quilt.
Your eyes aren’t going funny. What you can see is the wadding flipped up over the quilt top. You’ll have to wait until next time to see the blocks and colours. Muriel has pieced a generous double size Turning Twenty which I believe she has tried to machine quilt herself and eventually gave up on and handed over to me for longarm quilting. My brief is to longarm quilt this quilt with my choice of quilting designs and thread colour. So I auditioned a few colours of thread and chose a medium blue. As for the quilting design, well I’ll have a little think about that this evening.
I did mainly little jobs that take up quite a lot of time today. I played with Yo-Yos …..
I love making Yo-Yos, especially with the Clover Yo-Yo makers. I know they’re not everyone’s cup of tea but I like them. I find they work quite well as embellishments on my own designs. They add interest and texture. Here’s one corner of my Four Season Whimsy border with a Yo-Yo secured in place …..
Communication was top of the list today. I answered several emails, sent loads of text messages, ordered supplies, renewed my house insurance, did a printing job for Friday’s class and booked appointments. My goodness I hate the process of renewing insurance! However it is a necessary evil. I’m just glad it’s done now for another year. 😉
So after doing all of that I decided I needed a little treat. I needed to do something fun but something useful and topical at the same time. So I dragged out a large sketch pad, pencil, rulers and eraser and set to. So in honour of St. Valentine’s Day I decided I would draw something simple with hearts. And this is what I ended up with……
I can imagine that this drawing would work quite well as an appliqué or a stitchery project. So I’m going to try it both ways. But not today. I quite enjoyed my little drawing session. Perhaps I’ll draw a few more heart themed blocks. I quite like hearts and I think they would look great as a quilt.
So it’s been a pretty good day in my little world. I didn’t do anything extraordinary but I did get quite a lot of little jobs done. I look forward to starting the quilting on Muriel’s quilt soon. And now that I have added the finishing touch to this years’ Whimsy I feel great. Tomorrow I move on to another project due in the near future. One day at a time and one foot in front of the other.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be doing some hexie work. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something you really enjoy. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
