Hello my lovelies. I hope you’ve all had a good productive day. I kicked off my day at 6am by working on turning these squares into a border. By 8am my quilt top was complete and ready to sandwich. I went on to stabilise quite a lot of the appliqué components by machine.
I have since started adding some hand quilting to this project. I haven’t done much hand quilting over the last five or six years but when I do I thoroughly enjoy it. The art of hand quilting is such a lovely quiet pursuit. The more you stitch the more your project comes to life. If you haven’t tried hand quilting, I highly recommend it. You don’t have to do a king size quilt, just start with a small wall hanging. I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised just how nice it is to sit quietly away from the sewing machine. Not to mention how different the look and feel of hand quilting is compared to machine quilting.
It’s been a lovely day in my little world even though it started so early. I got quite a lot done at my slow and measured pace. Things work much better when you have time to concentrate on what you’re doing. And of course, you can enjoy what you’re doing when you’re not rushing around. Tomorrow it’s back to longarm quilting for me …..
I managed to load Christine’s quilt into my longarm quilting system this afternoon while Sarah was taking her weekly driving lesson. This is another rather quilt. Christine has chosen a quilting design called A Little Bit This by Barbara Becker. This design seems to be trending at the moment.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be doing some hand quilting. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something you really enjoy doing. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
