Hello my lovelies from my very blustery corner of the northeast of England. The sun is shining and the wind is blowing a hooley.
I hope you’ve all had a super weekend. As always I kept myself busy over the weekend. I attended a steam fair on Saturday and did a wee bit of people watching. I’m sure we’ve all been to quilt shows well the steam fair is the equivalent for steam engine builders/collectors. Anytime I have been to a quilt show I have been too busy looking around to take any notice of what the ladies and their husbands are doing all around me. So on Saturday at the steam fair, and believe me I don’t know very much about steam engines except that it’s a much more expensive hobby than my quilt making addiction costs, I watched the men at the said fair. There was great enthusiasm and admiration in their eyes. I noticed that there were not many young men but lots of men whose families are grown and moved out giving them more cash to splash around. There was a distinct lack of women. The next time I go to a quilt show I will make a point of doing a wee bit of people watching to see if the women mooching about quilt shows look anything like the men who attended the steam fair over the weekend. It’s quite interesting where our hobbies take us and how they make us behave.
So I did do a little bit of quilt related sewing on Sunday. I played with pennies …..
I cut these felt circles and turned them into this …..
I will be using this felt thingy to park my needle while I’m working on projects. At my classes I so often hear my students shout oh I’ve lost my needle! So I think a Penny Needle Park is a really good idea. By making this Needle Park I got a little practice before playing with these woolly circles …..
You’ll have to come back later on in the week to see what I did with my woolly circles. All I can say at the moment is that I have been collecting woollens for some time now and I finally worked up my courage to remove the ribbon on two bundles …..
Now that I have removed the ribbon and had a little go you can expect to see more woolly projects coming out of my sewing room.
Today has been a rather busy day doing something and nothing. I whipped thru all the five minute jobs so I could load another quilt into my longarm quilting system …..
This and the next quilt are pretty special quilts to me. They were pieced by a lovely lady. This quilt is so well pieced that it practically loaded itself in my frame. I’m hoping to start quilting it in the morning. I haven’t decided what quilting design or thread colour to use yet. I’ll make the decision in the morning.
So it’s been a pretty good day in my little world. I’ve been fairly busy with little jobs. I even got a requirements list and instructions for a project partly done. That wasn’t a five minute job. I wonder what tomorrow will bring.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be making pennies again. I can’t wait to show you my penny project. I hope you have super cosy evening doing something you really enjoy. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
