Hello my lovelies. I hope you’ve all had a good productive day. My day was interesting but not so productive. I had a journey out to Gateshead first thing this morning. I drove thru lashing rain which eventually turned into sleet and hail. And a few minutes later the sun was out again. I’m hoping a warm bright summer is just around the corner!
I got home at around 1:30pm and settled into my sewing room until it was time to prepare our evening meal. A few weeks ago I was given 12 blocks by the Pincushion Craft Club to be turned into a quilt top for my favourite charity. So I looked around to find something I could use for the sashing. I found some pretty leftover coral colour backing fabric that I think does the trick. I did a wee bit of rotary cutting and started adding the sashing strips to each row of blocks. Tomorrow I hope to add the outer sashing and borders in readiness for longarm quilting. I love seeing projects come to life. I think this is going to be a nice quilt when it’s finished. A simple quilting job will do nicely.
Before I go any further I want to thank everyone for their kind words regarding my finger injury yesterday. My finger is fine so far. I’ve even been able to do some hand sewing but I must admit that it’s a little sensitive. I was a little worried about infection setting in but so far there does not seem to be anything brewing. Every time I think about what could have happened I feel week at the knees. I was really lucky and I take my minor injury as a reminder that I must be careful at all times whether I’m sewing using my domestic machine or my longarm sewing head. Lori Kennedy had an accident with her domestic sewing machine in November 2013 and she was not as lucky as I was. Read about it here.
So I’ve had an interesting day in my little world. I didn’t get much sewing done but I did have a little catch up with my friend while I was out this morning. I haven’t decided what I’m going to do tomorrow but whatever it might be I hope to make it count.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be testing a block sample for a new project. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something that makes you happy. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
