Hello my lovelies. Do you realise that we’re already three weeks into July????? Our summer is slipping away rapidly!
Have you been busy today or are you enjoying a holiday? Sadly for me holidays are few and far between. I hope to have a few days off in August where I can play in my sewing room to my heart’s content. I would love to spend a couple of weeks designing and stitching my new designs. I spent many hours in my sewing room today but I wasn’t playing. I kicked off the day with a bit of raw edge machine appliqué. Machine appliqué is not my favourite but needs must. I chose five different designs last evening and did the boring past of tracing the designs onto Bondaweb …..
I started ironing the patches onto the background fabric …..
And then moved onto machine sewing, using a blanket stitch, all the patches in place …..
I machine appliqued five blocks today. And for some unknown reason it all went really well. Even though my sewing machine produces a really good blanket stitch I much prefer to do fine hand appliqué. I have to admit I’m quite pleased with my efforts.
I did a bit of longarm quilting today. I worked on Susan’s Foundation Paper Pieced Log Cabin quilt. I love Susan’s choice of Lewis and Irene fabrics. The quilting design selected is Hearts in Bloom by Irene Steele of Timeless Quilting Designs. And the thread colour is Steel Grey which is the perfect match.
Well it’s been a pretty busy day in my little world. I was awake rather early and I hit the ground running. I didn’t waste much time mooching about today. So I’m going to treat myself to a little break tomorrow by joining a sewing group for a few hours of quiet hand quilting. How lovely.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be doing some fine hand appliqué work. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something you really enjoy. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
