Hello my lovelies. I hope you’ve all had a super weekend. It’s been a great weekend in happy longarm quilter land. I spent Friday and Saturday at Stitchin’ Heaven in the company of like-minded ladies. We did some Freemotion Quilting on Friday and we worked on beginner sampler quilts on Saturday. Both days just flew by so quickly. Today was spent catching up and mooching around. I kicked off the day by changing my bed which is a task that I hate more than anything. I have a hard time getting my duvet back into the duvet cover. Sometimes I wish I was about 6” taller just because I’m sure it would make the task easier. Does anyone else struggle putting their duvet in the cover? And if you have a special method of doing it please let me know. I suppose I should consult YouTube!
I did get to do a little bit of sewing today. I disappeared into my sewing with every intention of tidying but got side tracked! Surprise surprise ….. The first of sewing was adding some blanket stitching to this appliqué block …..
This block is a joint effort between my friend Sandra and I. She pieced the background and iron the fusible web backed patches in place and I added the securing stitches. There will soon be a story to tell about this and a few other blocks pretty soon.
After having a telephone conversation this afternoon I went onto preparing for a Dresden Plate challenge. I cut some templates …..
And then traced them and cut them out in order the make a sample to be sure that it works …..
I needed a background fabric to place the Dresden Plate on. So I chose something close to hand, rotary cut the square and pressed guide lines in order to be able to centre the Dresden Plate.
Once it was centred I pinned the Plate in place …..
And while my evening meal was simmering I tacked the Plate in place in readiness for fine hand appliqué work.
I quite enjoy working on a classic Dresden Plate. So this challenge is right up my alley.
So it’s been a busy afternoon in my little world. I thoroughly enjoyed preparing for the Dresden Plate challenge. After looking at my planner this afternoon, it looks like it’s going to be a busy week ahead. When I know the week ahead is going to be busy I try to have a quiet Sunday. Well there was no such thing today.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be doing some fine hand appliqué work and perhaps some hand quilting while watching Partners in Crime. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing some you really love to do. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
