Hello my lovelies. What kind of day have you all had? Well I decided that my day would be a day off, a me day. It didn’t work out that way although I did not do any longarm quilting. I went from my shower first thing, straight up to the loft to do some much needed tidying and thinning out. 90 minutes later there was a car full of
stuff junk to dispose of. And there are numerous books to take to the charity shop. We have collected so much stuff junk in the 13 years we have lived in this house! How does that happen?!? I am trying to be brutal about getting rid of stuff junk.
After our trip to the tip to get rid of our junk, hubby and I, decided to treat ourselves to a nice soothing coffee, visit the supermarket and the bank. We got home just in time for lunch after which I disappeared into my sewing room to work on Dresden Plate blocks. My plan was to make four blocks but when I realised I had enough background fabric for a total of six blocks I decided to make three to add to the three I pieced some weeks ago. So I did some chain piecing …..
Have you ever used the chain piecing method? I can tell you it works really well for Dresden Blocks especially if you’re making more than one block. And eventually, even before it was time to start making my evening meal, I had three blocks made including tacking the Dresden Plates to the background fabric. All that’s left to do is the fine hand appliqué work which is a super evening armchair project. I love a little hand appliqué while watching a good old English murder mystery. This evening’s murder mystery choice is Lewis.
Something that helped me along in my task of making Dresden Plate blocks this after was a good old fashioned cup of tea and a chocolate ginger biscuit. Well in fact there were two biscuits but I ate one before I took the photo …..
So I decided to schedule Tuesday as my day off as often as I can in the weeks to come. My day off used to be Monday but there always seems to be phone calls to return and emails to answer after the weekend. Tuesday just seems to be a better day to have a quiet one. I’ll let you know how that works out for me.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be doing some fine hand appliqué work using 100weight thread. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something you thoroughly enjoy. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
