Hello my lovelies. I hope you’ve all enjoyed a wonderful weekend. Black Friday seems to have taken over the world over the last few days. I must say I’ll be glad when it winds down and we can move on to something else.
The end of last week was a busy one for me. My Sarah came home on Thursday evening for the weekend. And we headed off to the Knitting & Stitching Show in Harrogate on Friday. The drive down seemed to take forever. And of course the venue was jammed packed with people. It’s quite a good craft show because it covers loads of different types of crafts. Sarah found lots of interesting things as there was loads of art supplies. I enjoyed the show but I can’t say I found anything that I couldn’t live without. I came home with a couple of Fat Quarter packs of soft brushed cotton by Moda from Fabric Affair and I bought a box of Aurifil 50wt thread which is lovely and fine and perfect for hand piecing. I was hoping to come home with some wool and knitting tools but I couldn’t find anything that I didn’t already have. I think that’s a sure sign that I need to catch up on what I have rather than buying more. Perhaps I should make 2016 a year for using it up again.
I’ve spent loads of time thinking about what I want to work on in 2016. And apart from the two projects which I posted about a few days ago I have a few UFOs I would love to finish. I want to do lots of hand sewing such as the Sweethearts Dozen which I started designing this year. I have added so many new fabrics to my stash and I’m looking forward to using every single one of them.
Saturday was the first of two Christmas Surprise classes …..
When it’s a surprise I always worry that the ladies taking the class won’t like the surprise project. Well Saturday’s ladies enjoyed working on their project. I will post photos of the projects next week once the classes are finished. Here’s a little peek at our lovely Jill doing what she loves best …..
Most of you already know that Stitchin’ Heaven will be closing in a few weeks. And I have been asked time and time again over the last couple of weeks what I will do when the shop closes. Well the short answer is: I’m going to work on my own UFOs and carry on designing and making samples of said designs. I’m hoping to find some time to release patterns for some of the designs I taught over the last couple of years as I have received many requests. I’ll let you know if and when that starts happening.
After driving Sarah back to University yesterday afternoon I settled in to some prep work on some of my Sweethearts Dozen project blocks. I traced shapes onto freezer paper …..
Iron the freezer paper templates on my chosen fabric …..
And carried on thru the next steps as required …..
There’s still loads of prep work which I will work my way thru. This kind of prep work makes a great armchair project. I look forward to the fine hand appliqué using the finest thread I can find. I can’t wait to see this project start to shape up.
It’s been a pretty good day in my little world although it never stopped raining. Tomorrow the weatherman has promised me some snow but as I live so close to the coast there’s a possibility that I won’t see any. What a shame!
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will carry on prepping patches for the Sweethearts Dozen. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something that you truly enjoy. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching. ♥ ♥
