Hello my lovelies. I hope you’ve all had a perfect day. Perfect days don’t come around very often so when one comes around make sure you make the most of it.
There aren’t many days when I can say that I haven’t done any sewing related tasks. Well today was one of those days. My Sarah is home for the weekend and so we spent most of the day flitting around and chatting about this and that. Sarah’s first year of university will soon be coming to an end. And she has been working hard on her final pieces and planning the essays that must be written. We spent this morning hunting and gathering art and general supplies she will need over the next couple of months to complete her assignments. The funny thing is that she is inspiring me to create.
It seems my style has been slowly changing. For many years my colour palette was medium to dark and rarely did I use bright colours and prints. Recently though, I have been working on art journal pages that have been rather bright and cheerful which is adding some overdue colour to my life. I created another art journal page yesterday and as you can see it’s another bright one …..
I’m quite pleased with my effort. And having messy crafty time is good for my soul. I’m not producing fine art pieces but when I stand back and look at my journal pages I smile. It’s a wee bit funky and I suppose it depicts how I was feeling at the time of creation. I have thoroughly enjoyed my messy time so I took the time today to create another background for the next art journal page I plan to create. Take time to play. Take time to doodle. It’s good for the soul.
So today has been another very good day in my little world. I didn’t even pick up a sewing needle but that’s not a hardship. Sometimes it’s really good to step away from what you love to really appreciate it. A day away from sewing can also bring inspiration that can be applied to future projects. While I was just busy flitting around today I thought of new projects I could work on. I am aiming to work on small useful household projects and funky mixed media stuff.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be doing some fine hand appliqué. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something you truly love. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching ♥ ♥
