Hello my lovelies. I hope you’ve all had as good a day as I have. At 8:55 this morning I looked at my To-Do List and decided that it was too nice a morning to spend hidden away in my sewing room. Don’t get me wrong, I love spending time in my sewing room but today I felt the need to get out and about. So I took a few minutes to put my face one, brushed my hair, grabbed my keys and off I went. I decided that I would go out hunting and gathering a new jacket. I have a couple of rather interesting meetings coming up and I feel that a tidy new jacket might make me feel more confident.
Driving in the sunshine was quite exhilarating. I should have been walking along the beach but it’s still a little cool for that at the moment. While I was driving I was contemplating life and making plans. I thought about the patchwork beach huts I was going to incorporate into my new projects and how I should finish up my apple core project this weekend. It now measures 54” square and once I have added a couple more rows of apple core shapes it should measure approx. 64” to which I will add a simple border all the while keeping the curvy edges of the apple cores. I would normally make it easy for myself by chopping off the curvy edges straight and adding the straight border but I’ll appliqué the curvy edges on top of the straight border. It’s been a fun project. Very simple to work on making it the perfect armchair project. I hope you’ve all got a fun armchair project to work on in the evenings. I can’t sit in front of the TV with nothing to do with my hands.
Things are starting to get interesting in my little world. I received a message this morning telling me that a wee article I wrote for SpotDeco a couple of weeks ago has been published. My little article is basically how I use quilts in my home to give it a touch of vintage style. Click here to read what I’ve written. I don’t consider myself to be a great writer but I suppose now and again it’s nice to contribute a little something, albeit something simple, to magazines and blogs. It challenges me and keeps my brain active.
I spent a little time this afternoon choosing some background fabric for my beach hut projects. I hated to pull the ribbon off a collection of fat quarters called Modern Background – Paper by Zen Chic for Moda. I bought this collection without a plan in mind; only because I liked the look of it. Quite often I buy such collections and save it for Sunday Best. Well Sunday has arrived! My next step is to draw the components of my beach hut scene on paper and of course choose the fabrics which will make up the fabric picture. All these things will be placed in a project box until I’m ready to start the actual work which I hope will be soon.
It’s been a great day in my little corner of the northeast of England. The sun was shining and I could almost see the grass growing. I took some time to do a little daydreaming. I played with some fat quarters. And best of all I made some plans for the future. Oh and I almost forgot ….. the helicopter that landed in the green space across from my house yesterday, it was transport for the Countess of Wessex. It seems the Countess was visiting some school children in the area. So now we all know what the excitement was about.
So for this evening, this very happy longarm quilter will be joining some apple core shapes together. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something you truly love to do. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching ♥ ♥
