Hello my lovelies. I hope you’ve all had a super weekend. Mine was full of sunshine and happiness. I spent all weekend working on my apple core quilt quietly. All the shapes have been joined together but the straight border has yet to be added. I found a solid hot pink fabric in my stash that I think would do nicely for the straight border. The curvy edges of the apple core centre will sit over the pink border and I will appliqué it in place. The outer edge of the pink will be straight. I’m quite pleased with this quilt so far and the best part is all the fabrics I have used so far has come from my existing stash. I would like to purchase a funky backing fabric for this one though. And I have a few leftovers from the centre shapes that I might be able to use for the binding.
Now that I have almost completed my apple core quilt I can really get my teeth stuck into another project all the while quietly working on UFOs in the background. This other project contains beach huts. I will soon start joining the background fabrics. Once again I think I will treat this as a hand pieced project. All I need to do to get started is cut squares which will be joined together. As for the beach hut part of the design, well I think I’ll wait until the background is pieced and I will then cut some paper shapes and move them around the background until I’m happy with the look. The paper shapes will also serve as templates for cutting the fabric shapes later. This is a different approach than I usually take for designing appliqué projects. I think it’s time to switch things around a little bit. I’ll let you know how this works out for me.
Lately my days have been full of something and nothing. Between enjoying a pretty bad bout of flu and solving a few problems, I have discovered that I’m much stronger than I thought. When life hands you scraps … make a quilt.
So once again, it’s been a pretty good day in my little world. Every day I try to meet any challenges thrown at me. And today was no different than yesterday and the day before … I met the challenge of completing all the tasks on my To-Do List albeit a short list. There were one or two rather important things on said list. So I’m glad to have worked my way thru it all in one day.
So for this evening, this very happy and rather ambitious longarm quilter will be cutting fabric for a beach hut background. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something you truly enjoy. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching ♥ ♥
