Hello my lovelies. And happy Mayday to all. It just happens to be a bank holiday here in the UK. The weather hasn’t been great so we decided to have a quiet weekend.
My Sarah has been rather busy with her last assignment of the academic year lately. Operation Taking Flight is progressing really well for us both. The last eight months have just flown by. Sarah has done really well in her first year. Of course we’ve had our ups and downs which is exactly what you would expect for Sarah’s first year of university. We have both learned just how strong we can be when we need the strength to keep us on track. Sarah will be handing in her final pieces of work in a few days. And very soon after she’ll be home for the summer. We have loads of fun things planned for the summer break.
I spent the last few days finishing up things. Let’s start with the apple core progress … I finished appliquéing the shapes onto the outer border and my funky backing fabric arrived a lot sooner than I anticipated. So now I have no excuse to get it longarm quilted so I can use it …..
I finished joining squares and adding borders to my beach hut background …..
This was a pretty simple project which was all hand pieced. Even the borders were added by hand. I really enjoyed working on this simple project. Now I need to work out the appliqué placement.
And finally, I added a little quilting in the ditch to one of my Quilts on the Grow blocks …..
All in all it’s been a productive weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed my quiet time hand piecing. Sarah spent quite a lot of time freemotion embroidering her assignment project. It was lovely hearing the whirr of the sewing machine but the best part was seeing what she produced. I can’t show you just yet but I hope Sarah will give me permission to post a few photos of her beautiful work. I am one proud mam right now.
So for this evening, this very happy and ambitious longarm quilter will possibly be working on a double wedding ring UFO or piecing Quilts on the Grow blocks. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something you enjoy. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching ♥ ♥
