Hello my lovelies. I hope you’ve had as good productive day as I have. The weatherman is insisting that the meteorological summer started today. Well you would never guess it’s summer here in my little corner of the northeast of England. It’s been dark and damp all day. Every now and again I looked outside to see that the wind was blowing a hooley and the raining was going passed the window horizontally! As much as I enjoy getting out and about I was so glad that I didn’t have any commitments outside the house today.
I’m very happy to say that I have now finished all the fine hand appliqué work on my Sweethearts blocks. I can move onto the stitchery work. I’m going to start the stitchery on my Birdhouse block this evening, if I can keep my eyes open long enough.
I have another little tip for you today with regards to fine hand appliqué. Now and again I have patches that don’t sit flat unless I clip the allowance; for instance, the v shape in the top of a heart shape needs clipping. Well now and again a few loose threads from the fabric weave might be difficult to tuck under, well when that happens I use a cocktail stick and my trusty fabric glue pen. I simply scrape a little glue onto the end of my cocktail stick and work it onto the wrong side of the patch and fold the loose thread onto it. This holds the loose threads in place while you do the fine hand stitching that secures the patch in place. It works really well for me.
Well it’s been a pretty busy day in happy longarm quilter land. I’ve done more today that I imagined I would. I suppose these dark dreary days are very useful for getting things done that I wouldn’t get done if the weather was good. I think I’ll step out tomorrow just for a change of scenery.
So for this evening, this very happy and super ambitious longarm quilter will be adding stitchery work to the Birdhouse block. I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something you truly love. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching ♥ ♥
