Hello my lovelies. I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week. We have been busy with the final arrangements for Christmas. I have just a few more jobs left and I’ll be able to start partying. Christmas this year is so different from any Christmas I’ve had in decades.
Before I get on with my mundane ramblings I need to ask if any of you have recently spotted a Twelve Days of Christmas by Anni Downs panel anywhere on your travels lately. Stephanie got in touch with me a couple of days ago, asking if I knew anywhere that might still be stocking it. I bought this panel three years ago, and framed it up with fabric from the same fabric collection. It’s hanging in my hallway at the moment. If anyone has this panel or knows any place who might still have one available, please let me know and I will put you in touch with Stephanie. Here’s a little peek at the panel.
I have a little sewing related news this week. I have gone back to my Sweethearts Dozen to add some more hand quilting. I love this quilt and I’m determined to get it finished in January. Here’s a little photographic reminder of my Sweethearts Dozen quilt …..
In between chores and getting ready for Christmas I have been contemplating a plan of action for 2017. I think I will be joining Meredithe of Pomegranate and Chintz and Anne of Frayed at the Edge in an attempt to complete or make progress on 17 UFOs in 2017. First, I’m going to make a list of my UFOs to see if I have 17; who am I kidding??? I have no doubt that I will surpass 17 UFOs. It will just be a case of staying motivated and concentrating on the 17 chosen UFOs. Can I do it? Well we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. For more info and if you wish to join in click on the photo below. The rules are simple and anyone who has a few UFOs can join. I think this a great way of encouraging each other to get moving on projects in progress.
When I find a gadget or tool that works for me I like to share. Well I’m not sure if I have ever mentioned Colour Catchers to you. So here goes. I washed a couple of older quilt which had quite a lot of red in them a couple of days ago. They were 5+ years old and have not been used until just recently. I thru a couple of Colour Catchers in the washing machine drum and pressed and go and hoped for the best. I’m very pleased to report that the red fabric in my quilts did not run but have a look at the dye in the used Colour Catchers!!! I’m sure there are other similar products on the market but this is the only one which I have used with success. I have no affiliation with the company that makes Colour Catchers. I have not been paid to promote this product. I only mention it because it works very well for me. I like to share the positive things that I experience.
It’s been a rather interesting week in my little corner of the northeast of England. I am a Canadian born and bred and when this time of year arrives and there’s no snow on the ground I always feel as though something is missing. The last white Christmas we had was six years ago. There’s only eight sleeps to go and I don’t think there’s much chance of a white one. Never mind there’s always next year.
So, for this evening, this very happy and super ambitious quilt maker will be hand quilting the Sweethearts Dozen. I have added this project to my 17 UFOs in 2017 list. Do you have a few projects you would like to finish in 2017? I hope you have a super cosy evening doing something festive. Until you read me again,
Happy stitching ♥ ♥
